Rudd Estate Bacigalupi Chardonnay 2007
Napa, CA  USA
Fruit from the vineyard that won the 1974 Paris Tasting.  Vines are now fully mature.  Perfectly stored, perfect fill, perfect bottles.

*From a 60-year-old vineyard planted on St.-Georges rootstock in the Goldridge soils on West Side Road in Russian River, only 600 cases are produced. David Abreu is the vineyard manager and Pat Sullivan is the winemaker, with consultation by Michel Rolland. Rudd's neighbors include such renowned estates as Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle and Plumpjack.

Wine Advocate - Robert Parker December 2008

More impressive than the 2006 is the brilliant 2007 Chardonnay Bacigalupi Vineyard, which exhibits notes of lemon oil, honeyed citrus, orange blossoms, and poached pears in a delightful, medium to full-bodied style. The oak is kept well in the background, and this wine reveals a decided minerality as well as underlying crisp acidity. Sadly, only 600 cases of this beauty were produced.
